Our research focuses on mental disorders. These include depression, anxiety, substance and non-substance dependence, and post-traumatic stress disorder. We analyse the mechanisms of action of antidepressants, antipsychotics and mood-altering drugs. We participate in preclinical trials of new drugs for central nervous system disorders. We use animal models to test non-pharmacological treatments (e.g. exercise) for mental disorders. In addition, we have a focus on the monoamine system (serotonin, norepinephrine, dopamine and histamine) and the neuropeptides (beta-endorphin, neuropeptide Y, oxytocin and vasopressin).
